Since Microsoft’s big purchase of Activision Blizzard, the video game industry has remained somewhat calm about studio acquisitions. However, everything could be about to change if the rumors are true, as one of the big companies in the sector, Warner Bros. Games, could be up for sale after announcing that they will restructure their developments to focus on their most powerful licenses. And PlayStation would be on the lookout to take advantage of this great opportunity.

At least that’s what SeScoops indicates, where it is assured that talks between Sony and Warner Bros. have already begun for the possible purchase of Warner Bros. Games by those responsible for PlayStation. At the moment there are no more details on this matter, but it would be a great opportunity for the Japanese firm, as it would add really important licenses to its ranks such as Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings or the entire DC universe, with Batman at the helm.

For the time being, we will have to continue waiting to find out what happens with this matter, as it would be a blow on the table by PlayStation and an opportunity to offer a more powerful and frequent release schedule than what the PS5 stage has experienced.

PlayStation continues to delay some of its projects: Marathon, the latest to change its date

Bungie has officially announced the delay of Marathon, its long-awaited title that was initially going to be released on September 23 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The studio has decided to postpone the date to spend more time polishing and optimizing the game, in order to meet the high expectations of its community. In an official statement, Bungie said: “We want to make sure that Marathon is an authentic reflection of the passion of our players, and for that we need more time.” During this additional period, the team will focus on perfecting survival mechanics, improving artificial intelligence, making combat more tactical and enriching, and optimizing rewards. In addition, work will be done to enhance the social experience, including improvements for those who play solo or in duos, and the incorporation of a proximity chat system.

This delay is partly due to criticism from the alpha tests, which generated mixed reactions from players. Added to this is the controversy over the use of stolen art in the early versions of the game, an issue that Bungie has acknowledged and promised to address. “We have clearly heard their comments on social media and Discord, and we take them very seriously,” the studio said. The storm clouds continue to gather in the PlayStation Studios environment.
