It seems that GPU manufacturers’ scaling and frame-generation technologies are here to stay. So there is no choice but to adapt to these new technologies, as Valve has done, which has updated the overlay information, adding Frame Generation and DLSS metrics to the information available when we monitor the values of our PC in games.
The new feature that will be available soon is called Performance Monitor, and it will offer information overlaid on games with the usual performance values of your PC. A configurable panel that you can overlay whenever you play with Steam, and in which DLSS and Frame Generation information is displayed. This information will let you see how much your PC performs with the enabled technologies, offering real FPS information and with this technology enabled.
With this, Valve wants you to know the real FPS figure that your system can offer, without including this type of technology that often shows a higher FPS rate than the real one, doubling or tripling with generated or scaled frames. Valve will separately display the actual FPS figure and the total including these technologies. In addition to this, you will be able to see other useful values such as GPU and CPU usage, temperature or memory usage.
At the moment this new feature is available in the beta version of the client for Steam games, we hope that it will soon reach all users.
